REGIONAL SALES MANAGER – NORTHEASTERN

PURPOSE:

 Reporting to the Head of distribution -retail, the Regional sales Manager role is to lead, drive and grow the retail insurance business within the assigned region by developing and executing regional sales strategies, expanding market penetration, strengthening distribution channels, and ensuring consistent delivery of production targets. The role ensures effective people management, agency development, and strong customer service to support revenue growth and profitability.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Partnership Development

  • Identify, engage and onboard strategic partners (co-operatives, banks, MFIs, Brokers and independent agents)
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with partners
  • Conduct regular reviews with key partners to ensure mutual value creation
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and distribution networks.
  • Recommend a decision or action-Through market intelligence in collaboration with partners give recommendation towards enhancing and growth of partnerships.

B. Sales and distribution management

  • Build and maintain a professionally trained salesforce according to the channel`s manpower target.
  • Oversee sales team productivity to meet and exceed retail life targets.
  • Identify growth opportunities and deploy strategies to increase penetration and retention.
  • Track competitor activities and recommend tactical responses.
  • Ensure achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual production targets

C. People Leadership & Performance management

  • Actively participate in recruitment and training of agents, Team leaders or sales officers
  • Coach, motivate, and mentor sales teams to enhance productivity.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement action plans for low performance.
  • Drive a high-performance culture through goal setting, recognition, and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies, sales controls, and ethical practices.

D. Channel Innovation and expansion

  • Monitor and optimize channel performance through market intelligence and constant engagement with partners
  • Feed product development on areas of product development as per the partners needs
  • Support branch teams to grow walk-in retail sales and corporate retail conversions.
  • Grow alternative channels such as partnership distribution, community networks, and digital leads.
  • Ensure effective utilization of marketing and sales enablement tools.

E. Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, underwriting guidelines, and company policies.
  • Prepare timely reports on sales performance, competitor trends, and market insights.
  • Ensure the sales team Strictly adhere to all regulations, standards, practices and all internal sales processes and procedures as set out by the company and comply with all relevant external legislation and regulations with regard to Compliance requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
Key Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behavioral Competencies
Academic and Professional Requirements:
Education Bachelor’s Degree · Bachelor of Business Administration, Marketing or any related field.
Professional Qualification ·        Diploma in Insurance
·        Relevant experience ·        Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience.
Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong sales and negotiation skills.
  • Understanding of cooperative business models and microfinance structures.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, prepare proposals, and develop business strategies.
  • High integrity, self-driven, goal-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision.
