About the Role

The role provides research, data and administrative support in gathering, organising and presenting market, competitor, regulatory and industry information under the guidance of the Head of Research or an assigned supervisor.

The Clerk will assist with desk research, industry data compilation, competitor tracking, environmental scanning, benchmarking and preparation of market-intelligence reports. The placement is designed to build practical research capability while contributing to timely and well-referenced insights for strategic planning, product development and business growth.

The role does not carry independent ownership of strategic recommendations, final market assessments, budgets or business decisions. All outputs will be reviewed and approved by the supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct assigned desk research using approved regulatory, industry, statistical, company and reputable publication sources.
  • Collect, clean, validate and organize market and industry data, including premiums, market share, growth, claims, product features and pricing.
  • Update competitor databases, product-comparison tools, regulatory trackers and market-intelligence repositories.
  • Monitor competitor activities, product launches, partnerships, digital initiatives and market positioning, and prepare factual summaries.
  • Track relevant regulatory, economic, technological and industry developments and prepare source-based briefs.
  • Support industry benchmarking, market sizing, product research, opportunity assessments and business-case research through data preparation and preliminary findings.
  • Prepare tables, charts, weekly updates, draft reports and presentation materials, and support stakeholder engagements through follow-up, note-taking and action tracking.
  • Verify and reference sources, maintain an orderly research repository, highlight data gaps or conflicting information, and undertake other assigned research and administrative duties.

Who We’re Looking For

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Data Science, Business Analytics, Market Research or a related field.
  • Applicants should be recent graduates.

Key Competencies

  • No prior full-time work experience is required.
  • Exposure through an internship, industrial attachment, academic research project, data-analysis assignment or business case is desirable.
  • Previous exposure to financial services, insurance, economics or regulatory research is an added advantage.
  • Analytical curiosity and willingness to learn.
  • Commercial and market-oriented mindset.
  • Basic knowledge of competitor analysis, benchmarking, market sizing or environmental scanning is desirable
  • Basic exposure to Power BI, statistical tools or business-intelligence platforms is desirable
  • Good communication skills – written, oral, presentation, report writing;
